Could the Ben Affleck Solo Batman movie still happen?
April 13, 2021 by: Daniel Woburn

Could the Ben Affleck solo Batman movie still happen?  Affleck’s fans on the internet say yes. On Sunday April 11th, #MakeTheBatfleckMovie was trending on Twitter with as many 67,000 tweets in support of it. After Zack Snyder’s Justice League recently stirred up renewed interest in the Snyderverse, Batfleck’s fans are now crying out for the solo Batman movie (where he was teed up to fight Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke) that was sadly not to be. Affleck’s personal issues with his divorce and his drinking led to him stepping away from the cape and cowl, prompting Warner Bros. to move on and cast Robert Pattinson in a reboot (The Batman) directed by Matt Reeves.

Since that time, Ben Affleck has not only returned to playing the caped crusader for reshoots to complete Zack Snyder’s Justice League – getting himself in better shape, so much so that the ol’ cowl was actually a size or two too big – but he’s also signed on to appear in the upcoming, oft-delayed Ezra Miller-led The Flash film. Director Andy Muschietti has described Affleck as “a substantial part of the emotional impact of the movie”. With Affleck clearly now once again comfortable to become the Dark Knight, it stands to reason he’d be tempted into trying to direct his abandoned solo Batman movie one more time. He seems to have come to a semblance of peace not just with himself, but with his role as the iconic character as it relates to him.

Considering Warner Bros’ DC Films slate is all over the show, with Suicide Squad reboots, Joker prequels and Batman reboots that don’t relate to anything else, as well as more Aquaman and more The Flash which still relate to the Snyderverse – why not give Ben Affleck’s Batman one more outing in his own little pocket-verse? The problem Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie has in coming into being isn’t just Ben Affleck’s willingness to do it – it’s Warner Bros. The studio titan have been very clear – either on the record or behind the scenes – about how they want to get away from Zack Snyder’s Justice League and forge ahead to something new. If that was the case, why even bother with Zack Snyder’s Justice League on HBO Max at all? The story goes, HBO Max and WarnerMedia are being led by different execs with different agendas

In which case, HBO Max could be the folks who decide to take a chance on a solo Ben Affleck Batman movie, provided they get the go-ahead from the other CEOs and Presidents in the mix at WarnerMedia Entertainment. If Warner Bros don’t want to confuse audiences by having two Batmen at the same time – it’s a little late for that. Joe Q. Public is about to get Batfleck in The Flash and Robert Pattinson in The Batman. It’s safe to say that you don’t diminish one by having the other; audiences will figure it out, and obviously the diehard fans already understand what’s happening and are even okay with both. It’s more Batman than fans used to get in the span of whole decades; trust me, the fans can handle two decent actors playing Batman at the same time. It feels like the real reason behind not allowing Affleck (and a currently extremely-willing Joe Manganiello) to have his proper solo Bat offering is because of petty pissing matches behind closed doors.

With the bad press Warner Bros have been attracting – due to their replacement Justice League director Joss Whedon being exposed for his many abuses of power, and subsequent alleged cover-up/attempts to smear Ray Fisher’s character – there’s probably a few sweaty execs who feel that kowtowing to Snyderverse fans’ demands is not only ‘rolling over and showing their belly’ but an admission of failure; of being wrong about not backing the Snyder horse when they were meddling with Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice and calling the Snyder Cut “unwatchable”.

If fans want the solo Ben Affleck Batman movie, it will unfortunately hinge on several variables. Affleck wanting to return; Affleck finding the time to do it; Warner Bros agreeing to it; Warner Bros finding the right time and platform to release it upon; the list goes on. Studios have been swayed by fan support before – just look at the ‘Release the Snyder Cut’ movement and its eventual, victorious four-hour debut on HBO Max. But having most of a finished movie and being persuaded to release it is one thing (okay – being persuaded to throw in an extra 70 million dollars to complete it and then release it), but starting up a movie from scratch that everyone involved gave up on attempting a few years ago is another. That said, stranger things have happened, and there’s no crime against hoping for that solo Ben Affleck Batman movie to eventually be born out into the world. Could Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie still happen? Absolutely. Will it? Time will tell, but it seems improbable at this stage.

Game of Thrones: New Season 8 trailer released for series’ 10th anniversary
April 7, 2021 by: Steve Seigh

Determined to keep Game of Thrones a part of the pop culture zeitgeist while working on several spin-off series based on the fantasy sensation, HBO has released a new trailer for Season 8. You read that correctly. There's a new trailer for what is arguably the show's most divisive season. Why? Well, to celebrate the show's 10th anniversary, of course! Be aware, my friends, this trailer is dark and full of spoilers, so watch at your own peril.

Naturally, the new trailer features highlights from the final six episodes of the Emmy-winning series – some of which are loathed by fans who were disappointed with how George R.R. Martin's epic tale concluded. If you're looking to score a V.I.P. ticket to this year's Snarkapalooza, you should check out the comments on this trailer:

"Season 8 was like if Frodo realized he could snap the One Ring in half like a twig as soon as he reached Mordor."

"I can’t even bring myself to re-watch the entire show because of how badly it ended. This is a shame because the first four seasons are absolutely ace."

Alright, I think you get the idea. I don't want to create too much of a dogpile.

During a time when fans are ready and willing to launch campaigns in the spirit of getting what they want out of studios, networks, and filmmakers, scores of GOT fans have called for HBO to remake the final season. However, unlike the Snyder Cut, HBO doesn't have files worth of spare GOT footage to create an alternate ending, let alone an entire season. Plus, whether people liked it or not, the final season was still a major hit for HBO. Add the fact that many of the show's stars have moved on to other projects, and you're looking at a sticky situation for reshoots.

Of course, there is a chance that HBO could film a new ending and release it as a standalone presentation sometime down the road. Maybe once Martin finishes the final two books, The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring, HBO can double-back and film a new ending with a new cast. While this scenario is unlikely, stranger things have happened.

Are you excited to see what else HBO has in store to expand the Game of Thrones Universe, or did the final seasons sour you on the franchise?

Fans campaign for Joe Manganiello Deathstroke HBO Max series

Fans campaign for Joe Manganiello Deathstroke HBO Max series
April 5, 2021 by: Kevin Fraser

It’s been a couple of weeks since the debut of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and it didn’t take fans long to start campaigning for WarnerMedia to #RestoreTheSnyderVerse, which includes the director’s cut of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. It turns out that fans are also eager to see more of Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke as they’re calling upon WarnerMedia to greenlight a Deathstroke film or TV series for HBO Max.

??It’s time to make #DeathstrokeHBOMax trend??

Tell the world why YOU want to see @JoeManganiello‘s Deathstroke get his own HBO Max movie or series and remember to use #DeathstrokeHBOMax in every post.

— #DeathstrokeHBOMax (@DeathstrokeHBO) April 5, 2021

The hashtag has been trending for much of the day, which certainly points to some interest in seeing Deathstroke return. At one point, Deathstroke was set to become a major part of the DCEU, with Joe Manganiello slated to play the part in Ben Affleck’s The Batman as well as a Deathstroke origin movie that would have been directed by The Raid’s Garath Evans. As we know, those plans fell apart, so we only have Manganiello’s brief scenes in both versions of Justice League to serve as a reminder of what could have been.

RELATED: Zack Snyder’s Justice League: Superman’s black suit was a digital creation

While speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Joe Manganiello said that while he unfortunately doesn’t own the Deathstroke IP and can’t make any decisions in that regard, he does think that “fans’ appetites are wetted for more, they want more.” Ordinarily, I’d say that a fan campaign wouldn’t make much of a dent towards getting a Deathstoke project off the ground, but we live in a society (sorry) where the Snyder Cut actually exists, so I’m not about to second guess it this time around. What say you? Do you want to see more of Deathstroke, either as a movie or an HBO Max series?

Zack Snyder’s Justice League second to Wonder Woman 1984 in HBO Max homes

Zack Snyder’s Justice League second to Wonder Woman 1984 in HBO Max homes
March 24, 2021 by: Gaius Bolling

We’re getting a bit of information on how well Zack Snyder’s Justice League did in HBO Max households and according to one report, it ranks second to only Wonder Woman 1984 on the platform.

According to Samba TV, Zack Snyder’s Justice League pulled in 1.8 million HBO Max households in its first five minutes on the streamer over its premiere weekend. The figure puts it second behind Wonder Woman 1984 which drew 2.2 million U.S. households during the weekend of December 25-27. Samba TV is a service that polls terrestrial smart TVs so that is really only a piece of the data to indicate how well the film did over the weekend.

According to “Deadline“, their insiders indicate that Zack Snyder’s Justice League did massive numbers over the weekend on the streamer but the figures still have it coming in behind Wonder Woman 1984.  Many will speculate why this happened but it may just come down to the fact that Wonder Woman 1984 was a brand new franchise film coming out when we really needed one during the pandemic and the Snyder Cut is more of a niche fan film. Casual moviegoers may not have truly known what it was all about but the increased positive feedback may bring in the uninitiated to view the film on the platform.

Samba TV also discovered that Zack Snyder’s Justice League topped the first-weekend premiere of The Falcon and the Winder Soldier on Disney+. They have it clocking it at 1.7 million households which is still an impressive figure but it just adds more to the issue of the transparency with streaming figures. Disney+ declared this week that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was the most viewed weekend premiere ever on the streamer. Samba TV’s figures do support that but we won’t ever get the full story with these figures until the numbers are officially released by the various platforms.

Do YOU think HBO Max will release a more clear figure of how well Zack Snyder’s Justice League did on the streamer?

David Ayer’s Suicide Squad: Director’s cut of antihero movie very unlikely

David Ayer’s Suicide Squad: Director’s cut of antihero movie very unlikely
March 22, 2021 by: Steve Seigh

Chances are that if you’re reading this, you’ve watched Zack Snyder’s Justice League this past weekend. If that’s the case, odds are that you’re aware that Snyder’s black and white Justice is Gray edition is coming soon. With the Snyder Cut proving that the filmmaker’s vision was superior to Joss Whedon’s, this has long represented a watershed moment that fans thought could lead to other directors finally getting their vision realized on screen. The most obvious candidate is David Ayer’s divisive SUICIDE SQUAD.

While a sequel/reboot is headed our way this year in the form of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, many still clamor to see what Ayer originally had planned for Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Rick Flag, and the rest of Task Force X. Well, I hate to be the one to break it to you, but it doesn’t sound like Warner Bros. has plans to #ReleaseTheAyerCut of Suicide Squad.

Recently when asked if Warner Bros. will be releasing a director’s cut of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, WarnerMedia Studios CEO Ann Sarnoff said, rather bluntly, “We won’t be developing David Ayer’s cut.” Well, you don’t get more definitive than that.

Instead of refurbishing past efforts, Sarnoff and Warner Bros. Studios are pressing forward. She says the future of DC is more than just films, and that fans should look forward to seeing some of their favorite characters in streaming shows, video games, television spinoffs, and big-screen features.

When asked for specifics about the future of DC as a brand, Sarnoff said the following:

We’ve got an incredible group of creators — television series creators, Max series creators, feature film creators — who are basically broadening the base of the talent that we work with on DC because we’re so excited about the potential to build out the DC multiverse. It’s one of the reasons why I was hired almost two years ago. The before-and-after was it was a very siloed organization with no connectivity between the businesses. DC was being developed, but in a kind of monolithic way in each division. My mantra coming in was to make it bigger and broader and we really want to surprise and delight the fans with more connective tissue across the various media and platforms. I’m talking movies, HBO Max, television and our games division.

When asked about the impact of the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign and how important it is that the studio listens to fans, Sarnoff replied:

We’re always going to listen to our fans, but we are in service of the broadest fanbase and we owe them an integrated, holistic strategy. Adding, We want different voices in the mix. For certain fans that want singular voices, they may be disappointed, but we would ask them to be patient and see what we’ve got in store because perhaps the newer voices in the mix will have just as compelling stories to tell. On balance, you of course want to listen to your fans, but we do want to stay true to our vision and our mission for DC and build that out.

Sarnoff also addressed the more toxic side of the Snyder Cut campaign, saying there’s no room for it in their business and more.

We’re not tolerating any of that. That behavior is reprehensible no matter what franchise you’re talking about or what business you’re talking about. It’s completely unacceptable. I’m very disappointed in the fans that have chosen to go to that negative place with regard to DC, with regard to some of our executives. It’s just disappointing because we want this to be a safe place to be. We want DC to be a fandom that feels safe and inclusive. We want people to be able to speak up for the things they love, but we don’t want it to be a culture of canceling things that any small faction isn’t happy with. We are not about that. We are about positivity and celebration.

Lastly, Sarnoff addressed the fact that the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign has recently converted into #RestoreTheSnyderVerse, with fans calling for Zack Snyder to make more superhero movies for the DCEU.

I appreciate that they love Zack’s work and we are very thankful for his many contributions to DC. We’re just so happy that he could bring his cut of the “Justice League” to life because that wasn’t in the plan until about a year ago. With that comes the completion of his trilogy. We’re very happy we’ve done this, but we’re very excited about the plans we have for all the multi-dimensional DC characters that are being developed right now.

For more related to the future of the DCEU, including Ray Fisher’s ongoing feud with the studio, the Walter Hamada problem, and closing out the Snyder Era of DC films, be sure to check out Variety’s full interview.

Justice League: Zack Snyder explains why his cut is so violent

Justice League: Zack Snyder explains why his cut is so violent
March 19, 2021 by: Kevin Fraser

After years of waiting, Zack Snyder’s Justice League is finally out in the world for fans to consume every little piece. The film is pure, unadulterated Snyder, and whether that’s a good thing or not depends on your appreciation of his past films, but by and large, I think most can agree that it’s miles above the theatrical cut of the film.

RELATED: HBO Max crashes for some users after debut of Zack Snyder’s Justice League

As the film is streaming on HBO Max, there was little need for Zack Snyder to rein in the violence, and although it can’t compare to something like Amazon’s The Boys, there’s still more bloody violence than you would typically find in a mainstream superhero movie. While speaking with Variety, Zack Snyder said that he wanted to push the envelope and approached the film as if there were no ratings board. “It’s a pure exercise in creative freedom,” Snyder said. “Let’s just do it the exact way we would if there was no ratings board. Let’s not use any second guessing. Let’s just do it the way we think is the coolest. That was the philosophical approach.” Snyder also didn’t want to shy away from what it would really be like to do battle with superheroes who had incredible powers.

I always feel that the consequence is important to me, that there’s real stakes. It still is abstract, you know. These are gods fighting men. Which is also part of the point. We can’t really fight them. Humans can’t really fight them… If you don’t address the actual violence as violence, to me, you’re lowering the stakes on all levels. If the superhero smashes the car, and the whole car explodes, and you just see the guy kind of crawl out of the wreckage, and you’re like, oh okay, it’s still PG-13, the fact you don’t show the blood is a technicality. The violence is still there. I want a true depiction of the violence. I don’t want to sugarcoat it.

Despite being a self-described “doubting thomas” about the whole Snyder Cut phenomenon, our own Chris Bumbray was as surprised as anyone when he walked away actually loving the film. “This is no bloated extended version,” Bumbray wrote. “It’s an epic superhero team-up that’s startlingly original, hugely influenced by Jack Kirby’s The New Gods, and somewhat akin to a DC version of Lord of the Rings.” You can check out the rest of Bumbray’s review right here.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League: What Did You Think?
March 18, 2021 by: Chris Bumbray

I never thought I’d live to see the day, but the Snyder Cut of Justice League isn’t only a reality BUT it’s also currently streaming on HBO Max! As I wrote in my review, I absolutely loved Snyder’s four-hour epic, which is a startling departure from Joss Whedon’s orange and teal tinted abomination. In the end though, what critics think is of little importance, as this movie has always been for the fans who busted their asses to make it a reality. This is your moment to shine, so strike back below with your thoughts – but please keep it respectful. This is a moment to celebrate, let’s not bog it down with nastiness.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League: Exclusive interviews w/ Zack & Deborah Snyder
March 17, 2021 by: Chris Bumbray

So, I’ll admit – I was skeptical about the Snyder Cut of Justice League ever happening. In fact, when it was announced I was still skeptical, especially when I hear that the movie would run an insane four hours long. That in mind, when I finally sat down to watch it my jaw was on the floor throughout. I didn’t just like Zack Snyder’s Justice League – I full on loved it. Yet, it still left me with some questions, namely how did Snyder ever expect to fit all of this into a studio-mandated two hour cut. Luckily, I had the chance to briefly chat with the man himself in the run up to the HBO Max release, and one of the first questions I had was about the running time, on which he quickly set me straight. It turns out, Snyder was never expected to deliver a two hour movie at all. Check out the interview for the full scoop.

I also had the honor to walk to Deborah Snyder, who’s Zack’s creative partner (and life partner to boot) who gave me the scoop on who approached who about making this cut a reality, and whether or not the on-going pandemic played a part.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League: Final trailer, post DCEU plans & Marvel praise
March 14, 2021 by: Mike Catalano

UPDATE: With review embargo set to break at Noon ET tomorrow (check back for our review), Zack Snyder’s released the full, final trailer for JUSTICE LEAGUE, which makes it’s debut on HBO Max thursday.

With the week of Zack Snyder’s Justice League HBO Max premier upon us, the director sat down with the New York Times for a lengthy interview. He talked about a lot of stuff we were already aware of: why he went back to make his Snyder cut, why he left, how he went about making it come to fruition, etc. However, he also dropped some hints about what he’d be moving on to now that Warner is not continuing with his DC vision as canon, something he’s previously spoken about at length:

They consider the theatrical cut of “Justice League” as canon. That’s their decision. I wish them all the best, and I hope the whole thing is a giant blockbuster on top of blockbuster on top of blockbuster. The stars of those movies are my friends, and I want them to be prosperous, and I want people to love it.

He also teased a micro-budget future project:

I’m trying to put together this movie called “Horse Latitudes,” a super-microbudget movie that I’m going to go shoot with my buddies in South America. It’s about a man’s journey into his past and how does death shape you? Am I ready to make a movie like that? I think so.

That sounds pretty interesting. I like the idea of Snyder taking a break from giant spectacle movies and focusing on something small and personal. He also dropped some praise for what Marvel is doing with its own movie universe:

They’re doing, at the highest level, this popular action-comedy with a heart. And they have that nailed. An effort to duplicate that is insanity because they’re so good at it.

For the entire interview, you can click right here. Oh, and in case you were not yet aware, the freakin’ Snyder Cut drops this Thursday, March 18th!

Zack Snyder’s Justice League isn’t official DCEU canon

Movie News

Zack Snyder’s Justice League isn’t official DCEU canon
March 12, 2021 by: Gaius Bolling

Zack Snyder is getting closer to presenting his true version of JUSTICE LEAGUE when it hits HBO Max next week. Despite this being the definitive cut of the film and presented as Snyder truly intended, the film will not be a part of the official DCEU canon. In fact, the 2017 cut that is credited to Joss Whedon and is the target of a ton of negative criticism, is what Warner Bros. considers official canon and it’s something Snyder is aware of, for better or worse.

Snyder had a chat with the “DC Cinematic Podcast” and he was asked about how his film fits into the greater DC Extended Universe. Even though the Snyder Cut of Justice League features characters who still have a future and upcoming films, his version doesn’t really fit into the continuity of the universe that the later films have followed after Whedon’s cut of the story. Snyder made it very clear that his version will never be considered canon:

“It’s interesting, sort of in the DCEU, or whatever it’s become, that that trilogy (comprised of Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, Justice League) sort of insulates itself in some ways [and] becomes its own thing now. I famously said, and it’s true, this isn’t controversial, my Justice League is not canon, right? Canon for Warner Bros. is the Joss Whedon version of Justice League. In their mind, that’s canon. And what I’m doing is not. Everything is not. So, it’s just an interesting, that relationship. And I’m fine with it because I feel like the only way that I could have made this film with autonomy was because of that, because of me admitting and agreeing to the fact that it is not canon.”

Snyder also confessed that the fact that his version isn’t canon partially frustrates him because his vision was supposed to help shape the DCEU before circumstances put Joss Whedon in charge of the film. Snyder goes on to say “The grander, greater concept for the DCEU is on another road. And there’s nothing I can do about that. That is just, it is what it is. It’s not my decision.”

This has to put Snyder in an interesting spot because on the one hand, he could present the cut he truly wanted to make without having to connect it to the greater DCEU but I can also sense the frustration that the vision he intended for the universe as a whole can’t be realized because of how everything worked out.  No matter how you feel about Snyder as a filmmaker, he seemed to have plans and a clear vision for what he wanted to do with these projects. The director admitted earlier that Warner Bros. has no plans on sticking to their earlier five-picture deal that they set up with him that started with Man of Steel and would’ve concluded with a Justice League trilogy. The Snyder Cut appears to be his last hurrah with the DCEU since there are reportedly no plans for Justice League 2:

“The reality is, as far as I know, there’s no interest and/or appetite to do more of these movies from Warner Bros. With me, anyway. But I didn’t think making this, finishing this film correctly would ever happen. But I did do my best to – as far as the creation of the Justice League, those different personalities being brought together – that idea, that’s what this movie is about… There is a suggestion of course in the film, as there would be within any of these movies, of a larger universe that’s still out there.”

I’m just happy that the guy got to make the movie he wanted to make and fans finally get to see it. I’m by no means a part of the Zack Snyder fandom but I respect artistic integrity and this is a chance that a lot of filmmakers don’t really get to have. He got a second chance to make the film as he saw fit and he has a ton of support in his corner that helped get it made. That’s something that he should appreciate, even if this story won’t serve some greater cinematic universe moving forward.

Do YOU think they should find a way for Zack Snyder’s Justice League to be canon or is it best to have it stand alone?

Justice League Snyder Cut: Brand New Clip!
February 27, 2021 by: Mike Catalano

I know it’s been a super long time since we’ve reported anything on JUSTICE LEAGUE: The Snyder Cut (kidding), but have no fear! Today we have a brand new clip from the upcoming HBO Max spectacle. Simply cast your eyes up top for your viewing plealsure.

Okay, I wouldn’t consider this clip much of a spoiler at all. For me actually, it’s more of a head scratcher. I’m not sure why we are getting these stone-carved monuments of the League. It seems like the type of end credits bit that has been used in Avengers movies. Although I doubt this is an end credits montage because who would want to see an “exclusive clip” of that? I suppose it could be an opening credits montage, but even if so, it doesn’t seem like a fit for that either.

I guess we will all find out on March 18th when the Snyder Cut premiers all over the place. I’m very curious as to what your thoughts are about this new clip, so please let us know in the comments section below!

Justice League: Zack Snyder slams critics that call the fan base toxic

Justice League: Zack Snyder slams critics that call the fan base toxic
February 4, 2021 by: Gaius Bolling

There is no doubt that fandom can be toxic at times and one could accuse several fanbases of stepping into that toxicity more than others. The road to Zack Snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE finally arriving on HBO Max next month began when fans rallied for Snyder’s proper of the cut of the film to see the light of day after the 2017 film, which was reworked by director Joss Whedon when Snyder had to depart for personal reasons, was met with a less than enthusiastic response upon release. Fans demanding Snyder’s cut has caused some critics to call the fan base “toxic” because of the extreme movement they made via social media to make it happen but Snyder is defending those fans via a talk with “CinemaBlend” and hitting back at critics who he believes unfairly put them in that category.

“I just think that’s sour grapes. There’s really no other way to say it. We know the people who were the architects of that narrative, and it’s pretty obvious what their agenda is. Those are people that I’ve been held back from confronting, by wiser people in the room. Because I’d love to get at some of these characters. Some direct conversation would be nice. Just to say, one, you don’t know shit about what you’re talking about. And we can break down everything they’ve ever [said]. I can make a list. There’s a few of these guys where I could just get a list of everything they’ve ever said, that they thought was right, and [I could tell them] every single thing they’ve said is wrong.”

The #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement hit a fever pitch in 2020 when WarnerMedia and Zack Snyder made it official that a new and proper version of Justice League was coming to HBO Max. The end result was three long years of campaigning and actually raising money for non-profit organizations via the campaigns that were set up to get the cut released. All of this work could not be ignored by WarnerMedia which led to the decision being made to finally getting Snyder’s cut released. Some believed that this was a win for “toxic fans” who are perceived to whine until they get their way when a film’s narrative doesn’t go in the direction they anticipated. A lot of these campaigns end up being mere social media debates but they were able to make this a movement that worked. Snyder goes on to expand on why their passion for the cut wasn’t toxic and how their movement raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for causes like suicide prevention:

“And so, in what world do you have any credibility anywhere, to any- one? I would love the opportunity to just say to the world, and to fandom in general, who these fakers are and what should be done to them, or with them. It’s just a bunch of BS. In regards to that toxic fandom, or it’s ‘a win for toxic fandom,’ again, in what world does this ‘toxic fandom’ raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for suicide prevention? How is that toxic fandom? They’ve probably achieved more than any other fan base, [and done more] good than any other group. So I don’t understand.”

In all actuality, I’d call the fan base more passionate than toxic. The #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign raised over $200,000 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention which is a cause close to Snyder’s heart since he lost his daughter Autumn to suicide. This doesn’t even take into account all the other money they raised for other charities and non-profits so if a lot of good came out of fighting to get the Snyder Cut released, perhaps it should be viewed from a more positive standpoint.

Do YOU think the Justice League fan base is toxic?

Justice League: Snyder Cut rated R for violence and language
February 3, 2021 by: Steve Seigh

Zack Snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE has officially been given an R rating for violence and some language. The four-hour film is set to be unleashed on HBO Max on March 18, and you might want to invest in some ear-plugs for the little ones. Then again, if you’re cool with Batman dropping F-bombs in the presence of minors, go nuts. I mean, I grew up while watching movies like The Shining, Scarface, and Alien 3, and I turned out just fine, right?

As you’re likely to have noticed, the PR machine for the Snyder Cut of Justice League has been working overtime these past few weeks. In just the past little while, we’ve got trailers, movie posters, character teases, and food tie-ins galore. Yesterday even brought a blurry look at Jared Leto’s Joker, whose appearance in the film has recently been confirmed.

RELATED: Zack Snyder’s Justice League images tease Joker & Martian Manhunter

According to Film Ratings, Zack Snyder’s Justice League has been rated R for violence and some language. This is just one way the Snyder Cut plans to separate itself from Joss Whedon’s version, which at the time of its release received a PG-13 rating for sequences of sci-fi violence and action. Of course, this isn’t the first time that a Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment received an R-rating. Hell, Todd Phillips’ Joker became the highest-grossing R-rated film globally with over $1 billion in funny money. There’s also Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition and Birds of Prey to consider as well, both of which were rated R upon release. To what extent that the R rating is necessary for the Snyder Cut remains to be seen, but you can bet that Snyder fans are eager to find out. Will the Snyder Cut establish a new bar for R-rated superhero movies? Probably not, though you’re certainly going to want to proceed with caution when gathering the family for Snyder’s intended take on Justice League.

Zack Snyder unveils release date and new posters for HBO Max Justice League

Zack Snyder unveils release date and new posters for HBO Max Justice League
January 29, 2021 by: Gaius Bolling

Save the date! We finally have an official release date for Zack Snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE along with three new posters for the film courtesy of Zack Snyder himself.

Snyder took to Twitter to unveil two new posters for the film in all their artsy black & white glory and they reveal that Zack Snyder’s Justice League will hit HBO Max on March 18, 2021. That means fans can ease their St. Patrick’s day hangover from drinking green beer the day before and kickback with Snyder’s definitive 4-hour cut of the film. You can check out the three new posters for the film below:

We knew that the Snyder Cut was coming sometime in March but fans now have an official date to mark down on their calendars. Snyder has been teasing elements of the film since he officially announced the HBO Max release last year and since he’s the master of the tease, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was more to come as we get closer to the film’s release date. The last significant news we got about the film was the tidbit that the film would not be split up into episodes as a miniseries but would be released as a full 4-hour film

Justice League: Zack Snyder already has ideas for a sequel

Movie News

Justice League: Zack Snyder already has ideas for a sequel
November 11, 2020 by: Kevin Fraser

It’s been a wild ride for those fans who have been campaigning for Zack Snyder to bring his original vision for JUSTICE LEAGUE to life, and against all odds, it was announced earlier this year that Zack Snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE was actually happening. The project will be taking the form of a four-part series for HBO Max, and although it was initially reported that there would be no reshoots, that all changed when it was revealed that Snyder would be shooting additional scenes with members of the original cast. Little by little, Zack Snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE has turned into a massive and expensive undertaking for Warner Bros., but the director may not be done with the Snyder-verse just yet.

RELATED: Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke reportedly back for Justice League reshoots

While speaking during a League of Mayhem live-stream from The Nerd Queens, Zack Snyder teased that he has plans for a potential JUSTICE LEAGUE sequel that would continue the story of Darkseid.

If you said to any of the actors in the movie ‘well what happens in the movie’ or ‘what happens later’ or whatever for any movie. And they go ‘well I got the script and it’s cool and I kind of know this and-‘ so [Darkseid actor Ray Porter] and I were talking about this and what’s cool or what’s the right response to some questions. It’s a fair question to ask me, you know, like what do I say to the world about, you know, what happens when Darkseid comes to Earth? Then what? You know, Is that a thing? And I think, listen, the truth is that, did I write and did I have and conceive a complete- do I know what happens when Darkseid… yes. I do know what happens. To say and to speculate about what that is and that that would be exciting, I think that’s a fine thing.

You might remember that when JUSTICE LEAGUE was first announced, it was originally going to be a two-part movie with Darkseid emerging as the main villain in the second film, so that’s likely where many of Snyder’s unused ideas are coming from. As for whether Zack Snyder will actually get the chance to continue his JUSTICE LEAGUE story beyond the upcoming four-part series, I wouldn’t bet on it, but then again, I wouldn’t have bet on the Snyder Cut becoming a thing in the first place, so what do I know. Either way, we’ll get to see more of Darkseid when Zack Snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE debuts on HBO Max in 2021.

Suicide Squad: David Ayer says Ayer Cut not heading to HBO Max

Suicide Squad: David Ayer says Ayer Cut not heading to HBO Max
November 3, 2020 by: Gaius Bolling

Pretty much since the announcement that Zack Snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE was headed to HBO Max next year, rumors began swirling that David Ayer’s Cut of 2016’s SUICIDE SQUAD wouldn’t be far behind. To be fair, Ayer fueled this speculation a bit by saying a proper Ayer Cut of the film could easily be put together which led to many fans starting up petitions online to get it down. Even though the Ayer Cut of SUICIDE SQUAD could one day see the light of day, the director is debunking the rumors that his cut of the film is headed to HBO Max.

Ayer took the time to squash the rumors when a fan reached out to him directly on social media asking him to comment on a report about this being fact and Ayer simply responded with a definitive “Not True.” You can check out the Twitter exchange below:

Not true https://t.co/6gdeiGDgPj

— David Ayer (@DavidAyerMovies) November 1, 2020

It’s easy to see how this misinformation has spread so quickly and a lot of it has to do with the parties involved. In recent years, Ayer has opened up about how the finished product of SUICIDE SQUAD that we received was a result of studio meddling. The director has said that his version would’ve been much darker in town and included more developed arcs for certain characters. The success of the campaign that helped Zack Snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE become a reality is also a factor. It only gives the fanbase my incentive to push for a proper cut because a part of the reason that cut is even happening is because the fans really made it clear they WANTED and NEEDED to see it. Lastly, Ayer has also encouraged fans to share their interest in an Ayer Cut with WarnerMedia so who knows if they were flooded with requests to make this cut happen.

There is some chatter that, despite definitive fan interest online, the campaign for the Ayer Cut hasn’t yet reached the fever pitch of that of the Snyder Cut of JUSTICE LEAGUE. The powers that be may need to see more interest to win them over but that’s to say it will NEVER happen. I honestly didn’t think the Snyder Cut would happen and here we are today with the director shooting additional scenes for the release. Maybe once HBO Max sees how well JUSTICE LEAGUE does on that platform it will give them the incentive to look into a similar cut of SUICIDE SQUAD.

Zack Snyder to shoot new footage for his director’s cut of Justice League

Zack Snyder to shoot new footage for his director’s cut of Justice League
September 23, 2020 by: Kevin Fraser

It was announced earlier this year that Zack Snyder would be bringing his original vision for JUSTICE LEAGUE to life in the form of a four-part mini-series for HBO Max. The news was enthusiastically received by fans who had been campaigning for a Snyder Cut of JUSTICE LEAGUE since the film was released, but beyond the possibility of several actors returning to record additional dialogue, it was thought that there would be no reshoots for the extended cut of JUSTICE LEAGUE, but it would seem that something has changed.

RELATED: Steppenwolf actor Ciaran Hinds shares his excitement for the Snyder Cut

According to THR, Zack Snyder will be shooting new scenes for the project in October that will include the return of Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Additionally, the shoot is also expected to include Ray Fisher as Cyborg, which is noteworthy due to the actor’s ongoing battle with Warner Bros. regarding his allegations on the behavior of Joss Whedon, Geoff Johns, and Jon Berg during the original reshoots. These new reshoots for the Snyder Cut of JUSTICE LEAGUE are expected to be “a week- or so- long.”

I can’t imagine that it would be easy to transform what was once designed to be a film into a four-hour mini-series, but the added breathing room must have left Zack Snyder realizing that he had a few gaps to fill. It’s admirable that Warner Bros. is actually letting Snyder shoot more footage for the film, especially considering how much money they’ve already poured into it, but I suppose it’s best to do it right rather than cut any corners at this point. The Snyder Cut of JUSTICE LEAGUE will debut on HBO Max in 2021.

Has Henry Cavill signed a three-movie deal to return as Superman?!

Has Henry Cavill signed a three-movie deal to return as Superman?!
September 19, 2020 by: Mike Catalano

Want to hear something ironic? About a half hour ago I was literally just speaking to a colleague of mine on how much I liked Henry Cavill as superman! And now, I was just informed of the rumor that the MAN OF STEEL actor may have just signed on the dotted line to play the son of Jor-El for three more films! That would be alright in my book, but let’s not forget the key word coming forth from this news: rumor. So let’s not start leaping tall buildings with a single bound just yet…

Apparently, the word on the streets of Smallville is that Cavill recently helped pitch a new Superman project that was super well-received. The potential deal is for three films based on his pitch with options to appear in other future DC films. I’m willing to wager that the studio wants Cavill back because of the big reception centering on Zack Snyder‘s upcoming “Snyder Cut” of JUSTICE LEAGUE. This for a total of five or six films.

If this rumor ends up being true, then I am all for it (as long as they bring back Amy Adams too). I would definitely love to hear what everyone else thinks. So do blast them comments below!

Zack Snyder teases Justice League trailer ahead of full release Saturday
August 20, 2020 by: Gaius Bolling

The DC FanDome Event is just two days away and since director Zack Snyder is a master marketer, he’s teasing us with a snippet of his trailer for his cut of JUSTICE LEAGUE. The full trailer is expected to drop at the heavily hyped DC FanDome event on Saturday.

While other DC directors have pre-recorded their segments for the event and are patiently waiting for the Saturday, August 22 panel at DC FanDome, Snyder has been ringing the bells to get his fandom primed for a massive reveal during his Snyder Cut presentation. He has spent this entire week sharing exclusive images from his upcoming version of JUSTICE LEAGUE, which has included photos of the pending Hall of Justice, Victor Stone (Ray Fisher) in his football gear, and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) in the heat of battle. This is a director that is clearly happy that his vision for the film will finally be realized and he’s stoked to share it with a fanbase that has been at his side, patiently awaiting its arrival. I’m sure after Saturday, the wait for his cut to hit HBO Max next year will feel even longer.

Are you hyped for what Zack Snyder is going to bring to DC FanDome?

Exclusive Int: Jay Baruchel on Random Acts of Violence & the Snyder Cut
July 29, 2020 by: Chris Bumbray

One of the guys I've always enjoyed talking to the most during my time with JoBlo.com is definitely Jay Baruchel, who, in recent years, has turned into one heck of a great director with GOON: LAST OF THE ENFORCERS and his new horror flick, RANDOM ACTS OF VIOLENCE. A hardcore film-buff, here Jay discusses what influenced him on this ultra-dark thriller, including his love of Michael Mann, graphic novels, and the intensity of his star, the great Jesse Williams. And, of course, knowing what a fan Baruchel was of BATMAN V SUPERMAN, I had to ask him what he thought of the fact that ZACK SNYDER'S JUSTICE LEAGUE is finally on the way, with him saying he's perhaps more excited for this than he would be if they even found the legendary lost reel of Orson Welles' THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS! It's a great watch, and check out the trailer below for RANDOM ACTS OF VIOLENCE, which comes out in Canada July 31st, and will premiere on Shudder in the U.S/UK/Ireland August 20th. It's a thought-provoking, nasty ride (review coming soon!).

Snyder Cut of Justice League called historic by Ray Fisher & more on Whedon

Snyder Cut of Justice League called historic by Ray Fisher & more on Whedon
July 25, 2020 by: Chris Bumbray

This may have been Comic-Con @ Home weekend, but another Con was going on out there – Justice Con – celebrating Zack Snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE, or as it’s most famously known – The Snyder Cut! Hosted by Nerd Queens and benefitting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and Ink to the People, the whole thing was streamed on the Justice Con Youtube Channel and continues through Sunday.

Now, one of the characters most rumored to benefit in this new cut of the film is Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, who was a guest of the con this weekend. His whole panel is embedded below, but he had some strong words for Joss Whedon, saying that “the man is probably scared, and he should because we are going to get to the heart of EVERYTHING that went down.” More on that below along with other highlights from the panel, which you can watch in its entirety at the bottom of the page.

  • Fisher said he’s in shock and awe and proud of the fans who pushed for the Snyder Cut to be re-released. He even went so far as to say that even if this was the only experience he ever had in show-business, it’s worth it because this is history-making.
  • Had a lot of pride in his work with Snyder, and appreciated fans picking up on his “not-so-subtle” cues over the years as he expressed himself over his wish for a Snyder Cut.
  • It was noted that Fisher was the first cast-member to push for it, with the others only picking up after he spoke up.
  • Noted that of everyone he really has the least to lose by speaking out as he lives simply, has no kids, so felt free to live up to the ideals of the character he portrayed by speaking up.
  • Also gave Chris Terrio and Deborah Snyder big shout-outs. Proudly said both Terrio and the Snyder’s are allies to those who lack power. They treat everyone with dignity and respect.
  • Respects Snyder’s darker vision for Superman noting, not unreasonably if an alien came down to earth with superpowers, do we think people would greet him with open arms when we can barely get along with each other?
  • Loves the Ultimate edition of BATMAN V SUPERMAN, saying he just re-watched it two days ago and is still picking it apart.
  • Said he learned he got the role originally while reading through the script to STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON. Said he was reading other things to distract him from how much he wanted to do JUSTICE LEAGUE. Said he was rolling around on the floor screaming once he found out – and the first call was to his mom. Said he couldn’t even tell her about the film but told her something “big” had happened.
  • Appreciated Terrio sitting down with him and specifically asking him for his perspective on everything about the character as a black man. There were a long of angles and considerations that went into the conception of the character, from him being black to differently-abled. Appreciated how much Terrio appreciated that and was open to having a dialogue.
  • Also noted Terrio never wrote Cyborg as a “black person” but rather just as an interesting character and that he had a truly great time with Terrio, and also Nic Pizzolatto on True Detective.
  • Finally – on Joss Whedon. Says there’s no comparison he can make between Whedon and Snyder. Stands by his comments and says every single one of his comments is true.
  • He said he’s been in projects where people disagree, but there’s only a certain amount of behavior one can tolerate and when people dismiss them you have to speak up.
  • He’s been assembling information so people can tell their stories in a confidential way where they won’t have to face the consequences.
  • Fisher himself seems fine accepting any consequences that come up “If I have to take the hit for this, I’ll take it completely.
  • Invited Whedon to sue him for libel and slander if anything he said is untrue.
  • Also had VERY strong words for Jon Berg and his statement.
  • He said people are in the know and he doesn’t have to justify his role.
  • About whether it affects his career- “I could not care less.”
  • Called Charisma Carpenter and Kai Cole (Whedon’s ex) brave for speaking up.
  • To all the detractors: “I forgive you in advance because you don’t have all the information.”
  • Noted that despite what happened behind the scenes, there are some great moments in the theatrical version of JUSTICE LEAGUE.
  • On whether he would reprise Cyborg on Doom Patrol opposite their own Cyborg: “it depends”. Mentioned that if had a great “moment of wholeness” and went deep, “sign me up!”
  • Gace Jovian Wave a big shout out and encouraged him to keep doing what he’s doing.
  • Is he going to DC Fan Dome? “Next question!” (with a smile)
  • Loved the Henry Cavill PC video
  • In a big surprise, Zack Snyder himself crashed the panel.
  • Fisher noted the first DVD he ever bought was Snyder’s version of DAWN OF THE DEAD.
  • Played coy when it came to FLASHPOINT.
  • Says he knows Ezra Miller is really excited about it.
  • On whether Miller will still be in it – couldn’t say anything. Hopes so.
  • Liked the potential reveal of General Swanwick as Martian Manhunter.
  • Had high praise for Harry Lennix and also Laurence Fishburne playing characters in positions of authority. Said even if its subconscious it changes people’s thinking.
  • Said if you go back and watch MAN OF STEEL it seems like Lennix playing Martian Manhunterwas always the plan.

Ray Fisher retracts support for Joss Whedon’s Justice League reshoots

Ray Fisher retracts support for Joss Whedon’s Justice League reshoots
June 29, 2020 by: Kevin Fraser

You just know that there’s one hell of a book waiting in the wings about the production of JUSTICE LEAGUE, covering everything from the very beginning all the way until the release of the Snyder Cut on HBO Max. Oh, to be a fly on those walls. We all know that Zack Snyder stepped away from post-production on JUSTICE LEAGUE due to a family tragedy, leading Warner Bros. to bring Joss Whedon onboard to rewrite portions of the film and oversee reshoots, which proved to be substantial.

It was an uncertain time for JUSTICE LEAGUE, but during San Diego Comic-Con 2017, Ray Fisher and his fellow cast-members took the opportunity to promote the Joss Whedon version of the film. At the time, Fisher said, “Joss is a great guy and Zack picked a good person to come in and clean up and finish up for him.” Well, Fisher took to Twitter today to “forcefully retract” his previous statements.

I’d like to take a moment to forcefully retract every bit of this statement: pic.twitter.com/1ECwwu6TG1

As Ray Fisher‘s Cyborg was one of the biggest casualties of Joss Whedon‘s cut of JUSTICE LEAGUE, it’s no surprise that the actor has long been a vocal supporter of the #ReleasetheSnyderCut movement, and with Zack Snyder finally getting the chance to realize his original vision for the film, we’ll likely see much more from Cyborg. It was announced last month that Snyder would be bringing JUSTICE LEAGUE to WarnerMedia’s HBO Max streaming service next year. “I want to thank HBO Max and Warner Brothers for this brave gesture of supporting artists and allowing their true visions to be realized. Also a special thank you to all of those involved in the SnyderCut movement for making this a reality,” said Snyder in WarnerMedia’s press-release.

HBO Max president aims for early to mid-2021 release for the JL Snyder Cut

HBO Max president aims for early to mid-2021 release for the JL Snyder Cut
June 24, 2020 by: Gaius Bolling

When HBO Max announced that fans would finally get to the see the Zack Snyder cut of JUSTICE LEAGUE on their streaming platform, there was still the matter of exactly when that would happen. On the day of the announcement, it was revealed the new cut would be coming in 2021 but an exact date wasn’t set at the time. While a solid date isn’t quite penciled in just yet, HBO Max president Sandra Dewey is revealing the timeframe she believes the Snyder Cut will hit their platform.

Sandra Dewey recently delivered a keynote address at the virtual Cannes market and since she oversees HBO Max directly, the question of the release date of the Snyder Cut was brought up. While Dewey couldn’t get more specific, she says that we can expect to see it debut in “early to mid-2021.” Again, it’s not a huge revelation, but at least they have an idea on when the cut could be ready to make its debut and considering Zack Snyder has already been working on the cut for several months behind the scenes, there must be some confidence that this timetable is feasible for release.

I think the misconception is that this cut of the film was just sitting and waiting to be released by Warner Bros. The fact of the matter is, an assembly cut did exist but it was far from finished and this is why the studio is spending $30 million or more to complete the extensive visual effects work needed to complete the cut as well as get the cast back for some additional voice work. There was some hope that Snyder could do reshoots with some of the cast but doesn’t appear to be something that is likely to happen at this time.

A clip, or what some have dubbed a teaser trailer, recently dropped that gave us a tiny peek of some of the new material that will be presented in the new cut, including our first look at Darkseid in action. The villain did not appear in the theatrical cut, which was largely a product of Joss Whedon‘s rewrites and reshoots when Snyder had to exit the project due to a personal family tragedy. That cut of the film grossed a disappointing $657 million worldwide against a budget of $300 million, before marketing costs. The film was also a critical misfire which began the aggressive fan campaigning to have the Snyder Cut released and this is where we stand today. The cut actually will exist and is no longer a myth and now it’s just a matter of when and how fans will get to see it. The how has to do with if HBO Max will simply release the film as a completed 4-hour cut or drop it as a 6-episode miniseries. There is also the upcoming DCFandome event on August 22 which will likely give us more from the Snyder Cut ahead of its eventual 2021 release.

When do YOU think we’ll get to see The Snyder Cut? Should HBO Max allow Snyder to take his time and not rush to release it due to fan demand?

Zack Snyder teases a Darkseid reveal in his Justice League cut for HBO Max

Movie News

Zack Snyder teases a Darkseid reveal in his Justice League cut for HBO Max
May 27, 2020 by: Gaius Bolling

HBO Max launched a little after midnight this morning and Zack Snyder has wasted no time teasing what’s to come from his long-awaited JUSTICE LEAGUE cut that will hit the streaming service in 2021.

Zack Snyder took to his Twitter page this morning and posted an image of the villain Darkseid which appears to be screengrabbed from the Snyder Cut of JUSTICE LEAGUE. Snyder captioned the image with “He’s coming…to HBO Max” and judging from the comments and retweets of the photo, it has put some fans into a frenzy. You can check out the tweet from Snyder’s Twitter account below:

He’s coming… to HBO Max pic.twitter.com/tthWwAqzWp

Zack Snyder (@ZackSnyder) May 27, 2020

Snyder tweeting the photo comes on the heels of actor Ray Porter revealing that he was set to play Darkseid in Zack Snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE before his role was cut from the theatrical release. This wasn’t exactly a well-kept secret within the DCEU but Porter’s timing of the reveal was telling since the caption of his tweet stated “Because I’ve been given permission…Hi, I’m Ray. I played Darkseid in Zack Snyder‘s Justice League. There. It’s out now.” This indicates the actor was given the go-ahead to reveal this information by Snyder or Warner Bros. because any news about this cut seems to be drawing more interest to HBO Max, which is becoming the latest of many streaming services that are trying to stand out in a very crowded field. You can check out Porter’s tweet below:

That said, and because I’ve been given permission…
Hi, I’m Ray. I played Darkseid in Zack Snyder’s “Justice League”.
There. It’s out now.

— Ray Porter (@Ray__Porter) May 22, 2020

We can probably expect more of these teases throughout 2020 as we head to the release of Snyder’s Cut in 2021. There is a level of hype that has been building from this since the theatrical cut in 2017 and now it has hit a fever pitch now that fans know it’s really happening. I wonder how much hype can be built up before it becomes a bit much but this seems to be a film that the fans really want and these little nuggets of information as they await the release only draws more interest to the film and HBO Max itself. It will be interesting to find out some kind of break down of users who went all-in on HBO Max based solely on getting to see the Snyder Cut next year.

As for Darkseid himself, the character was due to show up towards the end of Justice League’s fight with Steppenwof in Snyder’s original vision, as well as in a brief “history” section at the beginning of the film. When Snyder stepped down and Joss Whedon was brought in, those plans were axed. Judging from Snyder’s tweet, Darkseid will definitely have his moment in his new cut of the film. Until then, at least as of July 2019, Darkseid is set to appear in Ava DuVernay‘s NEW GODS but it’s unknown if Ray Porter is playing the role in that project.

What role do YOU think Darkseid will play in Snyder’s Cut of JUSTICE LEAGUE when it hits HBO Max in 2021?

Ben Affleck thanks fans for their support of Zack Snyder’s Justice League
May 22, 2020 by: Kevin Fraser

Whether you were a fan or not, Zack Snyder clearly had a vision for Warner Bros.’ DCEU, but that vision was cut short when Snyder stepped down as director and the studio brought Joss Whedon in to write and direct a series of reshoots. The resulting film wasn’t exactly met with universal praise, and little by little, Snyder’s original vision for the project began to emerge, leading fans to demand that Warner Bros. #ReleasetheSnyderCut. Well, fans finally got their wish as it was revealed earlier this week that Zack Snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE would be coming to HBO Max in 2021.

I’ll be honest, I never expected that Zack Snyder would get the opportunity to complete his vision; Warner Bros. clearly began to move away from Snyder’s plan some time ago, and it just didn’t make sense to suddenly release another version of JUSTICE LEAGUE. Well, I was wrong. As far as what form Snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE will take, it’s not yet known, but the studio is expected to throw somewhere between $20-$30 million to complete the project. “It will be an entirely new thing, and, especially talking to those who have seen the released movie, a new experience apart from that movie,” Snyder said. “You probably saw one-fourth of what I did.”

Zack Snyder fans destroy Justice League disks in celebration of Snyder Cut
May 22, 2020 by: Gaius Bolling

In the ultimate celebration and power of fan service, it was announced this week that the infamous Snyder Cut of JUSTICE LEAGUE would finally see the light of day on HBO Max in 2021. The news of the $20 million project certainly caused a stir and fans of Zack Snyder are showing their appreciation by destroying their “inferior” cut of the film.

The dream of the Snyder Cut becoming a reality obviously sent some fans into a frenzy and some of them took to a more destructive approach to show their love. Some fans are destroying their theatrical cut disks of the 2017 film and posting videos of the act. JUSTICE LEAGUE was meant to be a triumphant cap on the trilogy of Snyder DCEU films that began with MAN OF STEEL and continued with BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE. Unfortunately, personal circumstances resulted in Snyder walking away from finishing the project and director Joss Whedon was brought in to finish things up. The end result was met with a polarizing reaction from fans and critics with the almost immediate reaction being this wasn’t the cut Snyder intended because Whedon did extensive reshoots the skewed Snyder’s original vision. Now that fans are finally getting the Snyder Cut, some of them don’t believe they even need their original cuts of the film as you can see in some of the Twitter videos below:

I guessing this was a cathartic experience for some of the Snyder fans out there, although those who just threw their copy in the trash likely fished it out once they tried to create their viral moment. Considering that fans pretty much talked this cut into existence is a big win for everyone that wanted it so I guess they can celebrate the release as they see fit. Judging from everything I’ve seen online recently, Snyder fans are certainly passionate.

What will YOU do with YOUR current copy of JUSTICE LEAGUE? The Snyder Cut of the film hits HBO Max in 2021.
